Caring concern of volunteer literacy teacher leads student to faith in Jesus

Elias had suffered from a respiratory problem for years. His family took him to many hospitals and temples, praying to idols for help, but nothing cured him.

One day Elias was invited to join a Mission India Adult Literacy Class in the local community. He was an eager student and made good progress in learning how to read and write.

But then one day he missed the class.

The next day he didn’t come again. Worried, Elias’ teacher went to his house and found him very ill. Elias wept as he talked about his breathing problems with his teacher.

She prayed for Elias, and while she was praying a great peace filled his troubled heart. Just before Elias’ teacher left, she turned to him and said, “If you place your trust in Jesus Christ, He will heal you.”

Those words stuck with Elias. A few days later, he asked the teacher to pray for him again. She shared the Christian message with Elias and gladly prayed for him.

To Elias’ utter amazement, while his teacher was praying, he was instantly healed from his respiratory illness!

After witnessing God’s great miracle of healing in his life - and touched by the caring concern and faithful prayers of his teacher - Elias accepted Jesus as his personal Saviour.

The other villagers were amazed to see Elias completely healed! He was able to share the story of God’s healing and faithfulness in his life with them.
