Giving the gift of literacy

Mission India provides indigenous ministry partners with training and materials in 21 of India's languages.

During our year long Adult Literacy programme, a class of 30 students meets for 2 hours a night, 5 nights a week.

The programme is designed for instruction by volunteer teachers who have little formal education themselves. And the Bible-based curriculum introduces students to Jesus Christ.

At the end of the literacy programme, ministry partners report back on the results. On average, 80% of students graduate to the level of reading and writing in their own language, equivalent to that of a 10 year old in the UK. Many graduates also make a decision to follow Jesus.

For £18 you can give the gift of literacy to someone in India. £540 will sponsor a class of 30 students.
