‘I want to follow Him’
Boy remains faithful to Jesus, despite parents' opposition
18 December 2009
“Mohan!!!”

Frightened at the anger in his dad’s voice, 13 year old Mohan ran quickly towards his father, greeting him respectfully.
“Is it true you have betrayed the Hindu faith?” demanded Mohan’s father, angrily.
Mohan swallowed.
Then Mohan courageously said, “I know the truth now. Jesus Christ is the true God – not these idols.” Mohan pointed at the picture of the family idol he used to pray to faithfully before school each day.
“I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour
and I want to follow Him.”
Mohan’s father began to scream at him.
Then he beat Mohan until the boy was covered with dreadful bruises. Mohan shook, crouching in pain as his father warned him, “You are not to attend that Children's Bible Club ever again.”
Mohan stayed home from the Club - but he stayed faithful to his Saviour. He read the Bible and prayed every day.
Psalm 34:5 became his favourite verse: “Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”
Mohan’s parents tried to convince him that all gods were the same, but he would not believe them. He prayed that they would understand the truth about Jesus.
Eventually, to Mohan’s great surprise, his parents allowed him to return to the Club!
Now Mohan attends the Children’s Bible Club and prayer meetings regularly. He dreams of one day becoming a preacher and a Bible teacher, and he asks for your prayers for the salvation of his mother and father.
