A Ray of Hope

Before she joined a Children's Bible Club, Dumani worshipped tree spirits...

"I want to be a living witness for Christ in my community," says Dumani after receiving Jesus as her Savior in a Bible Club.

12-year-old Dumani grew up believing that a spirit lived inside a local banyan tree. Her family offered coins, fresh coconut, or rice to appease the spirit.

Into the darkness of this community, a ray of hope appeared - a Children's Bible Club. Dumani was invited!

At the Club, Dumani sang and danced. In time, Dumani learned the meaning behind the songs. She heard about Jesus, the only God and Saviour.

Each day, Dumani eagerly waited for evening so she could go to the Club!

Her family was very poor, so Dumani had dropped out of school in 4th grade. But at the Children's Bible Club, Dumani learned about the importance of education. She reenrolled in school.

Dumani's Bible Club leader also went to Dumani's house and prayed for the family.

One day, Dumani received Jesus as her personal Saviour.

Dumani doesn't worship the spirit in the banyan tree anymore. Instead, Dumani reads the Bible and prays to Jesus. She shares everything she learns in the Bible Club - especially the stories - with her mother and grandmother.

Dumani also brought four other children from her village with her to the Bible Club. She's regularly attending church.

"I taste the love of God in the midst of every problem," says Dumani. "I want to be a living witness for Christ in my community. I thank God for transforming my life from darkness to light. Please pray for the salvation of my mother and grandmother."
