No more shame
Parvati says Jesus has freed her from a life of shame.Faith in Jesus frees widowed mother from addiction
23 October 2009
Parvati had reached the lowest point in her life.
Her two children were ashamed of her. Ever since her husband had died nearly five years previously, Parvati had been making and selling alcohol.
She quickly become addicted to alcohol herself and often turned to prostitution in order to support her family.
One day a Mission India Church Planter visited Parvati’s village. As Parvati heard about the life of Jesus she felt an affinity with the woman who was caught in adultery (John 8:1-11). Jesus prevented the adulterous woman from being stoned to death, and then commanded her to live a life without sin.
Parvati desperately wanted the love of Jesus and decided that she, too, desired to live her life free from sin. Parvati confessed her sins and accepted Christ as her Saviour that very day.
Parvati completely gave up prostitution and her alcohol business. Many people in the village were amazed at the transformation they saw in her lifestyle, including Parvati’s children who are no longer ashamed of her.
Now, Parvati works as a maid, and she prays for the salvation of her two sons. Parvati also hosts church meetings regularly in her home.
