Raja depended on her husband.

Chander spent long days running their small restaurant, trying to make a good life for their four children.

Then he suffered a debilitating stroke.

Overnight the burden of managing the restaurant fell on Raja’s shoulders.

But Raja was unable to read or write so she couldn’t understand the bills or paperwork that went with running a business.

When officials came for inspections and handed Raja a number of documents she couldn’t read them or understand how to comply with their requirements.

The restaurant soon closed. Raja was devastated - she knew her illiteracy had stood in the way of her family’s financial success and future security.

So she eagerly responded when an Adult Literacy Class began in her local community. She even agreed for the class to meet in her home.

Today Raja is literate - and she is a follower of Jesus too. Her transformation has touched her entire family.

Chander was healed through prayers and is now a Christian. Their daughter Meenakshi is training as a Church Planter. The family is full of joy, and praises God for His faithfulness.
